BTS Make History as they Perform at the First Ever World Cup Halftime Show

BTS at the 2026 World Cup Halftime Show

The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show marked a historic milestone—not only for football, but for BTS themselves. It was the first-ever halftime show in FIFA World Cup Final history, and featured a lineup of some of the biggest artists in the world.

How did BTS get invited?

The halftime show was produced as a collaboration between FIFA and Global Citizen, with Chris Martin (Coldplay) serving as the show's creative curator. Martin worked alongside FIFA to build a lineup that represented different regions and generations of music while supporting the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise funds for children's education through football.

BTS were selected because of their global reach and their ability to unite audiences across cultures, making them one of the headline acts for the inaugural show. The group represent a diverse sound and fan base, making them ideal for the show.

The performance also represented one of BTS' most high-profile appearances since reuniting following the members' military service. The group are currently performing on their world tour, but made time in their schedule for this special show.

The Halftime Show

BTS performed hits such as "Dynamite," with hundreds of dancers and performers. Their segment was one of several performances during the approximately 11-minute halftime show, which required an extended halftime interval of around 25–30 minutes to accommodate the construction and removal of the stage.

The lineup also featured a mix of global pop stars and special guests:

  • Madonna
  • Justin Bieber
  • Shakira
  • Burna Boy

Who Else Did BTS Meet?

BTS not only met the stars of the halftime show, they also had interactions with other popular stars, such as the streamer IShowSpeed. The interaction made for a viral moment, with it being streamed live on his account.
